Philological Collectanea
was published for the first time in 1995 thanks to the efforts of prof. Ignacy R. Danka. It received the status of a scientific periodical with the appointment of scientific editor Collectanea prof. Jadwiga Czerwińska by the decision of the Council of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz of April 26, 2002. From that moment on, the magazine began to be published regularly as a scientific yearly. It has an international Editorial Board, which includes, in addition to the editor-in-chief, prof. Ph.D. Jadwiga Czerwińska, representing the University of Łódź, scientists representing Polish and European universities. IN
Philological Collectanea
scientific articles and editorial reviews are published, which aim to promote knowledge about the broadly understood culture of ancient Greece and Rome. The scientific material is divided into three basic areas: Hellenistic studies, Latin studies, and reception. The topics of the articles cover the broad boundaries of literature, language, history and philosophy of the ancient world and the reception of antiquity in modern culture. the works are authored by both Polish and foreign authorities recognized in the field of antiquity, as well as young representatives of science, including PhD students. Due to the fact that many of the published articles are written in congress languages, the rest always have foreign-language summaries.
Philological Collectanea
is also available to scholars and a wide range of foreign recipients. The magazine is addressed both to people dealing with antiquity due to their scientific research, as well as to a wide circle of people interested in ancient literature and culture.
