Religion in the Roman Empire (RRE) aims to promote and present new and integrative perspectives on religion in the ancient world using an interdisciplinary methodology. Based on the idea of “lived religion”. RRE the opportunity to pick up and continue new, emerging research work. This allows the disciplinary boundaries between religious history, archaeology, anthropology, classical philology, ancient history, Jewish history, rabbinic studies, the study of the New Testament and early Christianity, patristics, Coptic studies, Gnostic and Manichaean studies and work on late antiquity and oriental languages to be overcome. We hope to stimulate the development of new research approaches that capture the local and global development of the multidimensional pluralistic religions of the ancient world.
