The work, which consists of three volumes, presents the archaeological findings and the contextually associated finds and ceramic collections from the western, northern and east-central spatial units of the royal palace of Qaṭna (Al-Mišrife, Syria). The representation includes the following spatial units of the palace: the entrance wing, the west wing, the middle part of the central representation wing, the northeast unit, the north unit, the fountain unit, the northwest wing and the north terrace. The findings, finds and ceramics are presented in chronological order from the Early Bronze Age to the Iron Age.
Part 1 deals with the pre-palatial findings from the Early Bronze Age (Phases G 12 and G 11) and from the Middle Bronze Age I (Phase G 10) in the area of the later palace as well as the original plan of the palace from the Middle Bronze Age IIA (Phase G 9b).
The second volume deals with the execution plan for the palace (Phase G 9a). This dates to the Middle Bronze Age IIA and followed the original plan (Phase G 9b) immediately after. During this period the palace plan was constructed in the form in which the building continued to be used until the Late Bronze Age.
The third volume is dedicated to the later phases of use of the palace and the subsequent development from the Iron Age. Here, the usage phase G 8 of the building, which dates from the Middle Bronze Age IIA–IIB, is dealt with first, and then the usage phase G 7, which can be assigned to the Late Bronze Age I to IIA. The findings and finds from the Iron Age development of the area (Phase G 5/6) after the destruction of the palace are then presented.
